They came and sung!

We called out for songbirds who wanted to sing, and last week, people came and they gave more than singing! There were the dancers, the stage performers, the actors and of course, the indian man who sang hokkien songs! The participants came and belted popular tunes which showcased their powerful vocal chords, and for some, their fancy footwork.

The highlight of the day, was the Karaoke competition, which made the event more than just your usual karaoke session. Out of the 64 participants in all of the 6 rooms, each room came forward with their best soloist, and their best part to sing a duet, to pitch against the competition from the rest of the rooms. The stage belonged to everyone who stepped on it, as all the contestants sang, dance and impressed the judges with their charisma and stunning melodies.

Zhifeng was in the middle of singing his favorite song when he was being interrupted. However, despite the intrusion, the KTV enthusiast beamed for the camera, and he shared that he was invited for the event and he readily agreed, thanks to the friendliness of the group of people he was singing with. And he really enjoyed himself, when he unabashedly showcased his talent from the room, to up on stage during the competition.

And then, there were those who are not your frequent KTV goers. Shiqi, a friend of Peiyi's, was found to be surrounded by her songbird friends, even though she hardly touched the microphone. When asked why did she still come, she happily said that the people who invited her were very fun to be with, and it was friendship that brought her to this event.

Not everyone had an easy time though, especially if you were in the shoes of the judges. Having had professional training and experience, the judges rated the contestants based on stage presence, vocal talent, showmanship and audience engagement and team rapport for duets, Eventually, they had to make a decision.

At the end of the day, the winning soloist was David who sang 背叛 (bei pan), and the winning pair was a brotherly combination which was made up of Eric and Kangwei, and they sang 左右为难 (zuo you wei nan) , complete with a little drama to add a bit of spice to the competition.

Everyone had a great time, as the winners walked away happily with their gift vouchers, and the rest of the people, with new friendships formed and new found singing friends for some!"
